Zeng(1) Gongliang [8136] His family claimed to be descendants of Zengzi, author of the Xiaojing, but this branch was not prominent until Song. Gongliang's ancestors moved to Quanzhou, Jinjiang xian from Guangzhou, Gushi xian at end of Tang. Xiaokuan's [1695], Xiaoguang's [1696], Xiaozong's [1698] and Xiaoyun's [1700] father; Wei's [1710] granduncle; Chen(1) Yaozi's [99] son-in-law. Affinal relation of Tang(2) Xun [1595]. Brother of Wang(2) Ping's [1856] wife and father of Ren(1) Zhuan's [874] son-in-law, Zeng(1) Xiaozhang [3905]. In Qiang Zhi's funerary inscription for Zhu(1) Sun's [521] daughter, whose husband is named as Zeng Jun, his sons, Xiaozhuo [3904] and Xiaozong(2) [3906], used their lineage uncle (shifu) Gongliang's yin to enter the civil service. Their address was Quanzhou, Jinjiang xian and they had the same generational name as Gongliang's sons. In Qiang Zhi's funerary inscription for Zeng(1) Gongwang [3908], he provides exactly the same information about wife and sons and son-in-laws, with the exception that Zeng(1) Xiaoyun [1700] is added as a son (probably born of a concubine). It would, therefore, seem that Gongwang and Jun are, in fact, the same person, who was Qiang(1) Zhi's [7138] father-in-law. Another son-in-law, Du(3) Yin 3925] has the same generational names as the sons of Du(3) Yan [1730]. Zeng(1) Dang [1708] has the same generational name as Gongliang's grandsons. Gongliang's great great grandson, Chong [3900], was the father-in-law of Wei(5) Liangchen's [8158] son, Shujie [4002]. Chong was buried in Suzhou, Wuxian. Chong's son, Qinian [7361], was buried in Suzhou, Changshu xian. Xiaoji [1693], Xiaoxu [1694], Xiaolian [1697] and Xiaoyou [1699] all have the same generational name as his sons and nephews. His great grandnephew, Conglong [3911], was jinshi # 1 in 1199. He served on State council in 1215-1219 and again in 1234-35. Fujian TZ, 147.10b; Qiang Zhi, WJ, 35.4a-4b, 9b; Ouyang Xiu, WJ, 31.3b; Shen Shi san, 40.82a; Du Dagui, 'zhong,' 52.1a-5b. CBD, 4, 2819-2822.
